WE PUT OUR DATA TO ACTION!

ARTs Initiative- Volume IV The State of Black Arizona’s (ARTs) Initiative: Gospel Music, was initiated through the discussion found in Volume IV on the status of the arts and arts education. This research report found that the African- American population in Arizona (4.9%) has limited access to African American centric visual and performance arts. To this end, we seek to increase the appreciation of gospel music; further using it as a vehicle to encourage understanding of different cultures through music.

Volume IV

Executive Editor, Dr. Elsie Moore, Director of School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University led our efforts to publish Volume IV, a focus on art and arts education opportunities across the state for African American students. Volume IV is a tribute to the late Dr. Eugene Grigsby. Volume IV covers the gambit of educators, activist and administration practicing art and arts education across Arizona and the benefits of the arts.
