The State of Black Business Report
SBAZ and GPEC have once again teamed up to release a second State of Black Business Report for the state of Arizona.
New! State of Black Business Report Regional Report:
3.0 State of Black Business
Released August 16, 2023
The report covers key data points related to Black entrepreneurship rates, lack of access to capital and undercapitalization that have been assembled in a concise snapshot of Arizona’s African American population’s contributions to the local economy. In parallel, the first analysis of these data points last year brought to light the challenges to overcome and the opportunities to expand the presence of Black businesses within the State. Action steps have been taken throughout the year and their progress will be shared.
Prosperity begins with understanding the current landscape of Black/African American contributions to our economy, identifying the way forward and taking concrete steps in that direction. This report begins to fill in the knowledge gap about the role of Black Arizonans in our economic development.
